I've always wanted to learn compound interest.java, it seems like there's a lot that can be done with it that I can't do otherwise. I've searched the internet for some good learning tools, and checked the local library for some books, but all the data seems to be directed to people who already know the subject. Is there any tool that can help new people as well?

That is true , there are programs that can help you with lessons. I think there are a few types that help you solve algebra problems, but I believe that Algebra Buster stands out amongst them. I used the software when I was a student in Remedial Algebra for helping me with compound interest.java, and it always helped me out since then. In time I understood all the topics, and then I was able to solve the hardest of the tasks alone. Don't worry; you won't have any problem using it. It was meant for students, so it's very easy to use. Actually you just have to type in the topic that's all .Of course you should use it to learn algebra, not just copy the answers, because you won't learn that way.

I found out a some software programs that are relevant. I verified them. The Algebra Buster appeared to be the most suitable one for trinomials, function definition and converting fractions. It was also easy to operate. It took me step by step towards the solution rather than merely giving the solution. That way I got to learn how to solve the problems too. By the time I was done with it, I had learnt how to explain the problems. I found them helpful with Pre Algebra, Pre Algebra and Basic Math which helped me in my algebra classes. May be, this is just what you are looking for. Why not try this out?

A great piece of math software is Algebra Buster. Even I faced similar difficulties while solving long division, graphing parabolas and parallel lines. Just by typing in the problem from homeworkand clicking on Solve – and step by step solution to my math homework would be ready. I have used it through several algebra classes - Intermediate algebra, Intermediate algebra and Algebra 2. I highly recommend the program.
