solve subtracting square roots

Hello people. How do you people do solve subtracting square roots so easily? I just never seem to be able to solve a question without going wrong a few times. Please do not tell me to take extra tutoring. They are expensive and I cannot afford them. Any other idea would be more than welcome.

Algebra Buster is the program that I have used through several algebra classes - Intermediate algebra, Algebra 1 and Remedial Algebra. It is a truly a great piece of math software. I remember of going through problems with triangle similarity, trigonometric functions and converting decimals. I would simply type in a problem from the workbook, click on Solve – and step by step solution to my math homework. I highly recommend the program.
