10 7/8 = (10*8 + 7)/8 = 87/8 in the length on the drawing

1 ft = 12 in

14 ft = 12*14 in = 168 in

b) First we will find the scale factor.

To find the scale factor we need to find the ratio of the corresponding widths:

168 : (31/8) = (168*8)/31 = 1344/31

a) Let 'x' represent the length of the deck.

x = (1344/31)*(87/8)

x = 471.48 in

The actual length of the deck is 471.48 inches.
