Multiplying Fractions
Fractions Terminology
Numerator: top number
Denominator: bottom number (Think: the Denominator
is Down.)
Example:

To multiply two fractions
- Multiply the numerators.
- Multiply the denominators.
- Make sure the product of the numerators is above the
product of the denominators.
- Simplify the fraction.
Example:
Multiply

- Multiply the denominators. (6 × 4 = 24)

To multiply a fraction and a whole number
- Convert the whole number to a fraction.
- Multiply the numerators.
- Multiply the denominators.
- Make sure the product of the numerators is above the
