•Understand the definition, comp onents and uses of Epidemiology
• Differentiate between types of measures, i.e., dichotomous variables vs .
continuous
variables
•Know the definition, usage and formulas of rates , proportions and ratios
• Realize the difference between types of incidence and prevalence of a disease or
event
•Understand the uses of measures of association, i.e., risk ratio, rate ratio and
attributable proportion
