Multiplying and Dividing Rational Expressions

Use fol lowing problems to refresh your memory on how to multiply and divide
fractions .

EXAMPLE: Perform indicated ope Expressions .html">ration and write in reduced form


To Multiply or Divide Rational Expressions:
1.) Factor the numerator and denominator completely
2.) Write the product of the numerators over the product of the
denominators
, do not multiply this point
3.) Divide the common factors
4.) It is a good idea to just leave the numerator and denominator
in factored form. If you wish, you may multiply out.

EXAMPLES: Multiply or divide as indicated. Ex press each answer in
lowest terms .
