Purpose of script: to show how to use fractions as an advance organizer
for learning
to use decimals.
Learning Outcomes, Gagné’s Taxonomy: defined concepts

Process:
1. Using an authoring software program, present a straight line, then show it
being divided into halves , quarters, and eighths. Display the appropriate
fraction on each segment.
2. Remind the student of previous instruction in generating fractions and
calculating with fractions .
3. Demonstrate how to convert the fraction to a decimal by dividing the
denominator into the numerator and correctly placing the decimal point.
4. Explain how to round off the last digit when the quotient contains more
than 2 digits to the right of the decimal.
5. Explain how the fraction and decimal represent the same
information in
different forms .
Strategy Assessment:
1. Do the students understand how to generate fractions?
2. Are the students able to divide one and two digit numbers?
